I was experiencing pain in my right knee, which was aggravated by running. After my 2 pregnancies, I had found running the most effective way to reduce and maintain my weight. I was worried that I would no longer be able to run due to the knee pain. I was encouraged to try out FTI by a patient, who said it had changed her life. I decided to give FTI a try, and I have found significant benefit over the last 4 years that I have been training with Karen.
My experience with Karen has been very positive. She was immediately able to identify the cause of the knee pain, and deal with it effectively. She taught me how to release the tight muscles using various tools, followed by strengthening exercises for the weak muscles. I have learnt a lot of new techniques to relieve pain, such as myofascial and trigger point release, using foam rollers and the therapy balls designed by Nelson. I have been able to utilise this knowledge to help many patients relieve many types of musculoskeletal pain, without needing painkiller medications.
Karen is very thorough, using not just my symptoms, but also her own assessments to plan out her training. I have always had chronic neck pain, due to poor posture. With Karen’s guidance, I have since improved significantly, with much less neck pains, a far better posture and I have been able to continue running.
Karen is very caring and gives her undivided attention at every session. She always starts and ends each session with asking how my body feels, and will attend to every detail of discomfort and imbalance, so I end each session feeling good. She uses the gym equipment very imaginatively for training, designing different activities each session, so it is remains interesting. The gym atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, and the trainers even give their time for pro bono work to help some children with special needs.
Nelson and Karen and the trainers all invest a lot of time and energy into upgrading their skills constantly, so that they can customise the best training program for their clients. I have referred several patients to FTI for rehabilitation and functional training, and many have found it very beneficial. I also introduced my own father and mother-in-law to FTI. They have been training with Nelson for more than 2 years, and they have both experienced reduction in pain and found improvements in posture, balance and strength, enabling them to remain independent. I recommend FTI to those who wish to improve on their physical well being, whether in active sports or in their functional day-to-day living.
